The term 'It Takes A Village' has had a huge resurgence of late and the importance of building a strong support network to take you into Motherhood has never been more important. But for some of us, this term can also feel a little isolating. Especially when you are pregnant and feel emotionally and physically spent...the thought of 'Finding Your Tribe' to carry you through pregnancy and the postpartum haze can seem quite overwhelming and a bit daunting when all you really want to do is sit on the sofa and eat chocolate
When I became a Mum it made me appreciate female friendships so much more and I pushed myself to get out to Mum groups, Mama meet ups and sparked conversation with random Mums on the street in an attempt to feel a bit less lonely. I only moved to Tunbridge Wells 3 years ago and I'm very lucky to have met some lovely friends but with a very young baby literally hanging off me it was often quite hard work to even get dressed and out the door. Now with a toddler, baby and another baby on the way it's even harder!
So I had a little think and thought about what I would have loved when I was pregnant first time around and what I would want to go to now to help me make new 'Mum Mates' and came up with the idea of the Pregnancy Supper Club. A night off from everything to enjoy good food that you haven't had to cook yourself, company of other mums-to-be at all stages of pregnancy and a cheap and cheerful chance to connect and build new friendships without any pressure at all.
Thankfully, it seems to be proving very popular and it's even more clear to me that Mums need other Mums to relate to, connect with and to be there with a reassuring WhatsApp during the never ending night feeds, to say 'I feel you.' Because without other Mums, being a Mum can be very lonely indeed.
So what are you waiting for? Scroll down to book your spot at the table for one of our next Pregnancy Supper Clubs!
As well as a fun night out, all supper club attendees past, present and future are invited to join our Facebook group; a safe and friendly space for mums-to-be to get to know each other a bit more prior to meeting in real life.
This is an inclusive community for all mums-to-be, at all stages of pregnancy, who want to make in person connections, whether it's your first or sixteenth baby. I can’t wait to welcome you!
